Texas Sized Hail....literally!

Before the Storm Hit...the dark clouds looming

Yes, ladies and gents, that's right...we just experienced our first Texas Hail Storm. It was also the biggest size hail producing storm that has ever come through Austin in recorded history. So this storm is one for the books and we were here to be a part of it! The news coverage was all over the storm before it came through our area, but they didn't predict the GOLF BALL sized hail. It first started out as about marble size and then within 20 seconds, they grew to be about the size of golf balls. It was unbelievably loud and incredible to watch...

It may look like golf balls, but they are actually Hail Balls!

Look at the size of these things!

These hail balls are frozen solid...they are not mushy snowballs!

Our car suffered a few dents and a chip in the windsheild. A few of our neighbors weren't quite as lucky as us. Our sweet next door lady neighbor, who was parked right next to us, had her passenger side window blown out and then another one of our neighbors, his ENTIRE rear window! People even driving on freeways had their windows blown out. I am glad that we were home for dinner and safely watching this all take place from our back porch. Enjoy the pictures and videos!

Welcome to Texas!! Matthew would have been out there hitting the hail balls also. Glad your damage wasn't as extensive as others.

That's amazing! I've never seen anything like that and I didn't even know that hail could get that big! I'm glad your car is okay. Can you imagine how scary it would be to drive in something like that? Oh man!

Holy Cow! They even bounce like golf balls! Crazy! I love Alissa's smile - she's getting so big! When will you be in Utah again?

Seriously that was CRAZY to watch! It looked like popcorn when it hit the ground. It just stinks that Dan was caught in it-----his poor car.

Anyway, we missed hanging out with you guys this week. It was gloomy with all the rain and such. We need to make plans for next week, eh?

By the way----Twilight came in the mail yesterday!!!

Wow, that hail is huge! Well, at least you don't have 6 inches of snow our your door with storms lined up for the entire week :( Maybe it will melt before conference?

We're getting our roof replaced. It was intense! The hail stones you got (a couple miles from us) were bigger than the ones we got. I can't believe how big those ones in your hand were. That looks more like a baseball! Yikes!
