After Gent, we took an afternoon train to Waterloo, a city located just south of Brussels. This city is famous for where the final battle of Napoleon took place. The battle of Waterloo, 1815, is known as the greatest battle in European history which marks the final confrontation between Europe and France. After climbing 250 steep steps, we reached the top of the monument and had spectacular views of the country side where this battle took place. This is such a green, lush, and beautiful country and seeing it from above was amazing. We were lucky with the weather this afternoon too. It stopped raining in time for us to climb up the Monument. Our little legs were tired by the end of this day because we probably walked 8 miles from train station to tourist destination...what can I say, we enjoy the walking views, not the public transportation.
