We have had quite a day today...spending 3 hours in the ER was not what I was expecting :) Yesterday, while playing with friends and big sis Alissa, Hannah was running in a long dress up princess dress. She tripped and fell down and hit her arm right into a wall. Hannah cried for a little bit, but then just went right ahead on playing with her friends and just wouldn't use her "big owie" arm. I thought I would wait and see if it got better. So the next morning, as I watched her, she wouldn't use her left arm. The one sure indicator was when she would try and stand up from being on the ground, her left arm would give out when she would try to push herself up using it. That's when I knew that something must be wrong.
We headed to our pediatrician, then were sent to another floor to have x-rays done. The saddest part of the day was when they had to take her from me and get the x-rays done. I couldn't be in there with her, holding her and reassuring her, since I am pregnant. They won't allow me in the x-ray room. So I had to listen to her scream for about 15 minutes...longest 15 minutes of my life :) Poor thing! I cried too and Alissa kept saying, "You ok, Mom?" "Hannah will be ok."
Well, the x-rays showed a left buckle fracture right above her wrist! We were sent to Dell Children's Medical Center in Austin for further eval and casting. After three hours of waiting in the ER, we were finally seen. Thankfully by this point, Tyson had gotten off of work and came to pick up Alissa. So Hannah and I cuddled on the hospital bed and waited for the Doc. Then they told us that she will have to wear a splint and then a cast. Hannah was such a good sport about it all and was so so happy. Her arm was a little tender, but she didn't cry when they fitted her with the splint and sling. I think she looks pretty darn cute :)
Good job being so brave Hannah! I am so proud of you!
Here we go to the next 5 weeks of wearing a cast!
