So I tried my hand at making Hannah's birthday cakes this year! I usually am in favor of just getting and making a cake mix and frosting it, but I wanted this cake to be special for our little Hannah who turned one year old! Can't believe it!
I made separate cakes, one for Hannah and a bigger version for the adults and kids who came to her party.
I handmade fondant and colored in PINK. Then I rolled out the fondant and used a pizza cutter to cut out the shape of a number one. I then rolled the fondant into tiny balls to decorate the bottom of the cake.
I wanted to decorate her cake with pink polka dots, so I took the left over fondant and rolled it out, cut it into strips and then used a circle cookie cutter to make polka dots.

I am adding the sprinkle embellishments to the crowns too!
Here they are! You can tell by the background that my kitchen was a MESS after making these cakes, but it was worth it and I LOVED the way they turned out! Happy Birthday Hannah!

You just answered my question from the last post that I commented on, wondering how you made the embellishments. Thanks! You made the fondant? How cool is that? I'm impressed! They really turned out awesome.
