Silent Night Chapel, Oberndorf Austria

This Chapel has special meaning to me and my family.  This is the place where the Christmas Hymn "Silent Night" was first performed.  The original chapel burned to the ground, so the now standing chapel behind us was built in 1937 in memory.  My Granddad, while on his mission in Austria, came to this very Chapel on the very first time it opened to commemorate the Silent Night Chapel on Christmas Eve in 1937.
This was a special part of our trip for us and we were so glad we took the "extra" trip to see it.  We arrived right at sundown which made it perfect to see it all lit up on a snowy evening, like the evening when it was actually sang so many many years ago!

The stained glass window inside the chapel.
Another beautiful view of the "Stille Nacht" Chapel in Oberndorf.
